  VFD Basics for Water and Wastewater Systems

  Awarded for completing Before the First Fault: VFD Basics for Water and Wastewater Systems, a one-day, hands-on training class from Wayward Leaders LLC delivering 7.0 instructional contact hours. The course covers how a variable frequency drive converts and controls power to a pump motor, the installation and environmental conditions that determine drive life, protective setup for pump service including minimum frequency and ramp configuration, and structured first response to drive faults. Students work on live ABB drives, and learning is measured with scored pre-course and post-course assessments. Instruction is delivered by Carl Lee Tolbert, PhD, CMRP, author of Before the First Fault: A Field Guide to VFD Installation and Reliability. Contact hours are computed from a timed course agenda with breaks and meals excluded and are documented on a certificate of completion suitable for continuing education submission where accepted.
