Getting verified

Earning the verified checkmark by confirming a work email address at your domain.

A verified issuer gets a checkmark on every badge it issues, and unlocks organization logo upload. Verification confirms you control the email domain you claim.

Most organizations are verified automatically

If you signed up with a work address — anything that isn't a public consumer provider — your domain is claimed and verified at signup. There is nothing else to do.

Verifying manually

If you signed up with a personal address, go to Settings → Issuer verification:

  1. 1Enter a work email address at the domain you're claiming.
  2. 2We email a confirmation link to that address.
  3. 3Click it while signed in as an admin. Your organization is verified immediately.

The link expires in 30 minutes

It also requires you to be signed in as an admin of the organization when you click it. Both are required: proving you can read the mailbox isn't enough on its own, and neither is being an admin. If it expires, just request another.

What won't work

  • Personal email providers. Gmail, Yahoo, Outlook.com, iCloud, Proton, and consumer ISP domains are rejected — nobody can be said to control gmail.com.
  • An address you can't read. The link has to be clicked from that mailbox.

No DNS records needed

Verification is by work email on purpose. Most staff who need to issue credentials have no route to their institution's DNS, and we'd rather not make a badge program wait on a ticket to central IT.
